Brett's Boring Blog

Check in to see what books I'm reading, what music I'm listening to and the vintage baseball gloves and bats I'm finding at flea markets and antique shows.

Last week of school. Hip hip hooray! We are supposed to have our Field Day on Wednesday but Mother Nature looks like she doesn't want to cooperate. Oh well.

We had fun in Michigan on Sunday despite blowing out a tire on the way home. At the antique show, we found 4 nice gloves and huge Duke pennant from the 1940's. It's a triangular pennant but it's about 2x the size of a regular pennant.

Our film debut is released on Friday. If you go to see The Break Up, make sure to look for my stinky butt behind Jennifer Anniston's head during the concert scene. You may also see us in the background walking up and down the aisles. Or, maybe they cut the scene entirely. If they did, it was most likely because my butt is too sexy and they didn't want it stealing the scene.

Only 6.5 days of school until summer break. Oh yeah!

Is there any way we can petition the NBA to make the Dallas/Phoenix series the championship series and the Heat/Pistons the 3rd place series. I've enjoyed watching the Western Conference series - lots of points and lots of running. I'm looking forward to Dallas/Phoenix but the thought of the Heat/Pistons puts me to sleep.

After watching the draft lottery tonight, I'm pretty sure that JJ Redick will be the 14th pick in the draft and be wearing a Utah Jazz uniform next year. I'm predicting Shelden Williams goes to the Houston Rockets with the 8th pick. Anyone care to disagree??

Made it back safe and sound from Brimfield. Had a lot of fun and hope to go back again but probably not until next May.

Just found out that I was lucky enough to get tickets to the first two rounds of the NCAA men's basketball tournament at the United Center next March. I got pretty good seats - right behind one of the baskets, in section 209 row 3. Very excited!! Perhaps Duke will end up here - that would be great. If you'd like to attend with me I expect a 10 page essay on why Duke basketball is so much better than any other team ever. Or you can take me out for a nice dinner between sessions on Friday. Either way works.

It's raining here today so I can clean up some gloves and clean up the house!

Had a pretty good day at the flea market. Picked up 4 gloves and one old ball. The ball was probably the best deal - $1 for a red/black stiched ball in good shape. The gloves are all really good quality and will clean up nice. Off to Brimfield on Monday - hopefully there will be a lot to look at.

I've neglected to write about any CDs I've picked up lately and I apologize. Nothing has really blown me away although I haven't really had the chance to listen to my new arrivals. I will say that the new Golden Smog album that comes out in July is quite good. Another album I really like that I've only had a couple days is The Elms "The Chess Hotel." I have the new Pearl Jam and Wolfmother - both are very rocking and I like them on the first couple of listens but I don't love them just yet. The new Drive-By Truckers finally came today - I'm sure it will be good but I only partially listened to it.

I have to say that the beginning of The Simpsons the other night was absolutely hysterical. The Itchy and Scratchy musical was great. May favorite part is when the organs were coming out at the end. Great stuff!
