The "Lost" season premiere the other night was incredible. I didn't know what I wanted to be in the hatch but what they found was super cool. I was totally enthralled the entire episode and can't wait to see what direction the show heads in this year.

Found a couple of bats at an antique mall today. Got a nice Edd Roush H&B model 40ER, an old Louisville Bat Co. Bat with a big, thick handle, and a Spalding bat from the 1920's. I also picked up an early baseball with the green and red seams for $5. Going out to the Sandwich show tomorrow morning to see what I can find.

Apparently the other team got wind of the fact that I was going to play so they decided not to show up last night. Had fun taking batting practice and shagging balls in the outfield.
I enjoyed the premiere of "My Name is Earl" and "The Office" tonight. Looking forward to seeing the "Lost" season premiere tomorrow. I have class but will watch it when I get home - I know if I don't watch it someone will ruin it for me.

I'm playing softball tonight - hope I don't embarass myself. The hardest part about playing is deciding which glove to use! I don't really have any softball size gloves. I'd really like to use my A2000 but it's too small so I'll go with the Rawlings Trap-Eze. Maybe Santa will get me a glove from Brett Brother's website - then I wouldn't even have to write my name on it!!!

The Simpsons episode this evening was hilarious. The whole parody of Maurice Sendek was so funny, especially his quote about becoming a children's illustrator. It's really funny because he attacked so much for making sexual references in his books. But I guess that might only be funny to someone working towards becoming a media specialist.
Let me also reinforce my last post about picking up the Decemberists cd - it is fantastic!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend - I spent mine holed up in class for 2 days. Only one more weekend class and then that section is done. Yay! Of course I don't watch the Bears and they rack up 38 points today. Glad I picked them in my pool - almost didn't. Oh, my fantasy football players kicked some butt today - yeah!

Got two new releases from 2005 the other day and both are worth checking out. The Decemberists "Picaresque" was released back in April but I just got around to getting it this past week. I really like it a lot! There are a couple of really great songs and the rest of the songs complement them. This album will definitely be near the top of the year end list!
The other album is from a Canadian band called The Novaks. The album is self-titled and I don't think it is available in the US. I got it off ebay for a cheap price after listening to some of the tunes on their website. If you'd like to hear what they sound like, visit them at http://www.thenovaksband.com/
The NL and AL wild card races are getting very interesting. All I know is that I don't want the Yankees - any one else is fine.

All right, it's time for the impeachment process. This is ridiculous:

Well, another NFL season has started and the Bears lost. What a surprise! Their defense is solid but their offense is inexperienced. Hopefully they'll improve as the season goes along.
Full week of school ahead and then I have class next Saturday and Sunday. Yuck! But at least that class will be 2/3rds done.
I added some links to the sidebar so you can check out our website and some pictures. Enjoy!

Gave blood this morning. The last two times I've gone I've been a really slow bleeder - next time I have to make sure I drink a ton of water the days leading up so I can let the blood fly. I thought there would be a lot of people donating blood for the hurricane victims but I was the only one there this morning.
Did some cooking this afternoon/evening. I made some Organic Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies and they came out delicious. I always worry about the "healthier" desserts because they tend to taste funny or taste bad. These came out excellent. I also made some pasta sauce using the tomatoes from our garden. I was pleased with how this came out as well. Kristin said she liked it too so bonus points for me.
The cats are doing fine. We've started to integrate Maggie Mittens with the others. Rowdy and Maggie enjoy playing with each other which Sratchy watches. Itchy is still being a pompous pussy and hisses when they come by her. We also started letting Maggie come out of her room and explore - she hasn't come downstairs yet but we'll get there sometime soon.
No antique shows this weekend. There is one next weekend I'm going to try and hit before class starts. Did get some gloves cleaned up and put on the website.

Yesterday, I finished up the book "The Constant Gardener" so Kristin and I went to see the movie today. Although they differ a bit, I felt the movie was pretty true to the book and the concepts were the same. Both the book and movie have great social commentary and are depressing, yet educational at the same time. The movie was well done - it does not follow a linear storyline so if you are easily confused don't go - and the actors/actresses do an excellent job. We've only been to a handful of movies this year but I do keep up with pop culture, so in my humble opinion, I would think this movie will get some Oscar attention. Kristin was a little confused on the conspiracy and I would agree it's not fully explored in the movie - the book helped me out in knowing who everyone was and how everything had happened. I guess the movie was actually filmed in Nairobi and it's eye opening to see what that part of the world really looks like. When you walk out of the movie you can't help but feel guilty about living in the environment that we do and all the advantages we have over a third world country.

Did pretty well out at Kane County today. Got a couple gloves, couple bats, a ball in the box and two old Chicago Bears yearbooks. Weather was nice as well.
Trying to finish reading "The Constant Gardener" so Kristin and I can go see the movie on Monday. The book is good - I'm hoping the movie is like the book in the sense the story is not linear - it jumps around a lot. The premise of the book is pretty interesting and I'm intrigued as to how it is going to turn out.
