August already! Doh! That means it is almost time to go back to work. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Been reading some good books lately and watched some decent movies. We went to the theater and saw Pirates of the Caribean 2 - I liked this one better than the first one. It was exciting from start to finish and I like the ending. The other night we watched Capote. This movie was very good as well. It was interesting and kind of creepy at the same time. I can see why Philip Seymour Hoffman won the Oscar - he was excellent.
As for books, I read Two Years in St. Andrews by George Peper. I learned quite a bit about living in the UK and have a grand desire to someday tee it up at the Old Course. I also gave Dan Brown another chance and read Deception Point. I liked this one better than DaVinci and Angels but his written dialouge is still super cheesy. I'm wondering if he did the writing for X-Men 3 because the dialouge in that movie was terrible. Right now I'm finishing up a book called Stardust by Neil Gaiman. This is a science fiction book that is quite interesting. A movie based on the books is coming out in March and should be visually exciting.
If you have some spare change lying around I suggest you pick up the latest CD by the Long Winters called Putting the Days to Bed. Right now it definitely ranks in the top 3 for the year. We'd really like to go the Lollapalooza show in Chicago this coming weekend but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. We've only been to two concerts this year so far. I did buy tix to see the Decemberists but that is not until November.
